Frequently Asked Questions
What is Atmos?
Dolby Atmos is an advanced audio technology that allows sound to move freely in any direction, creating a three-dimensional sound experience. Unlike traditional stereo, where sound is fixed to channels, Atmos places individual audio elements in a 360° space—above and around you. This creates a dynamic, immersive experience that brings music to life in a way you can feel. Listeners can experience this enhanced depth and movement on devices like AirPods and other Atmos-enabled systems, making it possible to hear every detail precisely as you intended.
Why should I release an Atmos version?
Releasing your music in Dolby Atmos ensures that your tracks stand out now and in the future. As listeners increasingly crave immersive experiences, Atmos is poised to become the dominant format for enjoying music, taking over traditional stereo. By releasing in Atmos today, you're not just ahead of the curve—you're future-proofing your sound for the next wave of technology. Plus, Atmos releases currently benefit from higher royalties and playlist priority on streaming platforms, giving your music a competitive edge.
What do you need from me?
Multitracks are best, but stems will work! We can review your track together to ensure we achieve your expected results.
What will I receive from you?
You’ll receive an ADM BWF file for distribution and an MP4 for previewing.
ADM BWF is a .WAV file with the spatial information encoded, and it’s the file type your distributor will need to be able to release your Atmos mix to Apple Music, TIDAL, Amazon, and other streaming platforms. The MP4 lets you preview your track as it will sound on these platforms, as long as you have AirPods or another Atmos-enabled listening system.
How long will it take?
These timelines assume a full arrangement with multitracks. If working from stems, the turnaround time could be shorter. Priority is also available if needed sooner — we can discuss this based on your deadlines.
Singles: three days
EP (approx. 5 tracks): one week
Album (approx. 12 tracks): two weeks
Can I make changes?
Three revisions are included, with the possibility of adding more if needed.
How can I hear it in Atmos?
If you have AirPods or an Atmos-enabled home surround sound system, I will provide an MP4 file for you to check. This represents how your track will sound on Apple Music, TIDAL, etc. If you are local to London, we can arrange a studio session for you to hear it in full 7.1.4.
